Hello,

Thank you for visiting my website!

My name is Anna Skyner and I am an internationally certificated massage therapist with a goal to holistically reduce stress, increase relaxation and improve health.

I studied at the London School of Massage, where I received my qualifications as a professional massage therapist.

I create tailored massages at The Restful Room. This is key to give you the ultimate comfort and ensures you receive the best session possible.

If you are a new client, then before taking your booking, as an option,  I suggest you to have a 10 minute phone consultation. This ensures your precious time with me is taken up with the massage and allows me to understand any contraindications you may have.

I am afraid I don't do mobile massage therapies, except for my oncology patients (with whom I would suggest to  have a 20-30 minute video consultation before their first session.)

Please, if you have any questions or want to book an appointment, then just give me a call or text me at Viber and you can be assured I’ll be ready to take care of you!

Follow me on Instagram @easternhousetherapy where there are sometimes special discounts and offers.

TECHNIQUES I USE IN MY PRACTICE:
SWEDISH MASSAGE

The goal of Swedish massage is to improve your circulation and promote relaxation through soothing your muscles. The techniques involve soft strokes over areas which are more prone to pain, or without much muscle coverage.

Whilst the massage will leave you feeling deeply relaxed, afterwards you may experience a real boost in energy as a result of increased blood circulation.

By gently working the ligaments and muscles, this massage can help to improve your range of movement, keeping you supple and agile.

Unfortunately, many of us live stressful lives with pressures on our time and causes for worry. Being pampered and lulled into relaxation for an hour or 90 minutes allows all of that emotional stress to ebb away.

DEEP TISSUE

Is a type of massage technique which uses deep pressure. Combining very slow strokes and notable pressure, the purpose is to release the tension and tightness held deeply in your muscles and your connective tissues.

A deep tissue massage will typically focus on your primary areas of discomfort. This will typically be the back, neck, shoulders, buttocks and legs. However, it is also used on the arms, for example in the case of tennis elbow, or the feet, such as with plantar fasciitis.

The increased pressure helps to alleviate any soreness or imbalance caused by injury or tenseness. If you have anxiety or are suffering with stress, a deep tissue massage will help to release the tension you are carrying in your body as a result.

Whether you’re struggling with a sports injury, living with plantar fasciitis, or have a chronic condition such as sciatica or fibromyalgia, deep tissue massage can bring pain relief.

As well as helping you sleep better due to pain relief, a deep tissue massage can have a soporific effect later on due to the natural injection of serotonin your body receives.

MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

When most people receive their first manual lymph drainage massage, they’re usually surprised that the hand technique is so very gentle. Lymphatic massage requires a controlled, yet light touch. Why so gentle?

Lymph vessels are delicate and tiny. The largest are less than one millimeter in diameter, and the precapillary channels are even smaller. The hand movements therefore must be rhythmic and gentle, but provide enough tension to slightly stretch the skin, which encourages the small segments of the lymph vessels to pump lymph fluid. This special type of lymphatic massage is called the Vodder Technique.

Physical activity and breathwork are the very best ways to keep your lymphatic system healthy. When you exercise, your lymph moves faster. When your heart is beating faster, your blood is circulating faster. The lymphatic system is interrelated with the circulatory system. When your blood is pumping, your lymph is moving, too. Exercise is a great detoxifier of the lymphatic system.

But sometimes, intense activity is not possible. You might be recovering from surgery, or fighting an illness. You might not be able to exercise, per doctor’s orders. This is common after cosmetic surgery like a tummy tuck or lifestyle lift, or eyelid lift. In these cases, manual lymphatic drainage is helpful for relieving swelling and puffiness.

When lymph is not flowing properly, you may experience sinus or allergy issues. Draining the lymph nodes that work with the sinuses can help get everything flowing smoothly again and offer some well-deserved relief.

And at the end one of the main benefits of the MLD is the improvement of immune system and the removal of harmful waste and toxins from the body.

ANTI-CELLULITE MASSAGE

Cellulite is completely normal. For most people, it’s not a medical concern but may be concerning in appearance. If you’d like to try massage to treat cellulite, understand its limitations.

Cellulite is the dimpled, orange peel–like skin that you most often notice around the hips and thighs. But it can be found in other areas too, including your stomach. Cellulite isn’t limited to certain body types. In fact, it can strike people of all shapes, sizes, and weights.

Because cellulite is composed of fat, the best way to deal with it is by losing fat cells. One of the most effective ways to do this is through exercise and massage sessions. In the combination with a healthy diet it might improve skin’s appearance and make cellulite less noticeable.

The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in removing waste and toxins from our bodies. When it becomes sluggish or congested, fluid retention can occur, leading to the formation of cellulite. By applying targeted massage techniques to the legs, we can encourage lymphatic flow and improve the body’s natural detoxification process.

Additionally, anti-cellulite leg massage helps to improve blood circulation in the legs. Poor blood circulation can contribute to the development of cellulite by impairing collagen production and weakening connective tissues. By increasing blood flow through massage, we can promote healthier skin structure and reduce the appearance of dimples and lumps.

ONCOLOGY MASSAGE

The stress and anxiety associated with cancer treatment can put the body's central nervous system on high alert.

During cancer treatment, the body sometimes forgets that feeling of actually being relaxed. Patients may be stressed and anxious, even if they don't know it, so the mane work is to relax the central nervous system so the body has space and time to heal and fight cancer.

Oncology massage is very specialised, is completely different from traditional forms of massage.

The technique uses light touch and slow, steady movements. This massage therapy is safe for cancer patients as long as they are seen by someone trained in oncology massage, have understanding of the lymphatic system and have experience of working around ports and medical devices. Always talk to your doctor before undergoing oncology massage to make sure it is right for you.

As an option I am providing family members teaching of the technique according to each client's case.
